Part 2 of our potty training chronicles starts with Day 10 of our journey to no-diapers!
If you missed part 1 or just want to re-read what happened in days 1-10 you can check it out HERE.
Like I stated in Part 1, we were SUPER nervous about our upcoming trip to New Orleans, but it ended up being a great trip with just a little set back in the potty training. We ended up letting him wear pull-ups during most of our trip and then got back on track with underwear after we got home. We were worried this would be a major set-back but it ended up not phasing Trey at all, which was great!
So, without further ado, here is part 2 of our journey :)
Day 10 (Friday): We headed to NOLA for Mardi Gras! Trey stayed dry all the way there and even took a pretty decent nap in the car which he stayed dry all the way through! It also took us FOREVER to get there because of a wreck so we were SUPER proud of him!. He teed on the potty in the truck right when we got there but not a whole lot. We went and had lunch and he stayed dry but then had SO many accidents when we got back to the apartment we were renting (and he wouldn't tell us he was going, he would just go and then we would find it!), that we put him in pull-ups. He got really scared (again) in the bathroom at the restaurant where we had lunch. We kept him in pullups Friday evening and Friday night for the two parades we went to.
Day 11 and Day 12: We were on the go all. day. long in NOLA so we decided to not stress ourselves over it and we would just put him in pull-ups so we could enjoy our trip and all have a good time. We had a great time with our family and friends!! (Posts on that trip coming very soon as well!!)
Day 13 (Monday) we headed home to Texas with Trey in pullups as he had been all weekend. We figured we could re-group Tuesday.
Day 14: Trey and I were home this day. He did pretty good that morning (stayed dry) but he asked for a diaper after his nap :( I figured maybe were stressing him out and he may need a little break. I figured we would see how he did at school the next day and go from there with our plan.
Week Two: Day 15: (School): I sent Trey to school in undies and he was dry all day! He sat and went on the potty 8 times! I just could not believe he stayed dry all day after our weekend spent in pull-ups. I was SO proud of him. It was at this point that I knew he could totally do it and he would do it, he was just being stubborn at times. He ended up having one poop accident after we got home from school. (My fear of him having difficulty pooping on the potty was coming to fruition!)
Day 16: (school day) He had two tee tee accidents and pooped on the potty for the first time !!! His teachers and we were just SO excited for him. He was also SO proud- it was precious. He had an accident when we got home then asked for diapers. I put him in a pull-up but he wasn't happy about it- he truly wanted a diaper. I was starting to feel a little sad about the situation at this point.
Day 17 (School again): Trey did great again with minor accidents. We were going to have dinner with our friends and I knew he would be too busy playing to stop and tell us he needed to use the potty so we brought him over there in a pull-up. He ended up getting overtired and we left around 10:30 with him having a MAJOR meltdown, poor buddy.
Day 18 and 19 (Weekend): Trey asked for diapers. We figured that maybe we were stressing him out and it was definitely stressing us (mostly me) out. Obviously he CAN do it but at home he just wouldn't. We decided to take a break and regroup in the next week or two. At this point we had already invested almost two weeks but in the big scheme of things that was really not a lot of time, so we just decided to regroup.
Day 20: Trey was home with me and wore diapers and we pretty much didn't talk about the potty at all. It was SO nice to have a break. I felt really really relieved and Trey seemed much happier as well.
Day 21 (School): We thought we were taking a break but I sent Trey to school in underwear since he had been doing SO well at school. He pooped in the potty (for the first time!!!!). He only had one accident and we were all so proud of him. His teacher walked him out just to tell me how well he did at school!
At this point,we felt like we were taking a break, but Trey (once again) surprised us! We started Week 3 feeling refreshed and excited!!

Stay tuned for Part 3 (the final part!!!)
