Last weekend we spent a wonderful 5 days in Miami for Adam and Angela's wedding extravaganza. The week started with a surprise limo ride from the airport to the hotel!
Kev was in charge of booking our transportation and it was just a tad more expensive to get the limo over the shuttle, so he went with it and surprised us!
We got to the hotel around lunch time and enjoyed lunch at the hotel restaurant, Essencia, (we ate outside on the patio). It was really good. I had a grilled vegetable panini and virgin pina colada! :)
Thursday night we hung out in the hotel lounge.
We had appetizers and drinks there while we waited for everyone to arrive. Jim and I shared the Duck Confit Pizza (with figs, arugula, pesto sauce and feta cheese). It was DELISH.
There was lots of visiting and toasting to the bride and groom!
There was a little brotherhood.
...And a lot of LRC being played!
Friday morning we followed the advice of the guy who works in the local corner liquor store and had breakfast at the Tropical Cafe. It was AMAZING. I actually had the same thing for breakfast both Friday and Saturday it was so good. The best part? Besides being extremely affordable, all breakfast combo's come with french fries!! :)
Friday we had a full day on the beach! It was beautiful with clear blue water but the sand was interesting...more like kitty litter than the soft sand we were all used to. It was gorgeous nonetheless and the water was a perfect temperature.
I had bought a one-piece, but it was so awkward to wear, I just rocked the baby bump in a bikini. I can't believe I am sharing this photo with the world, but here goes nothing...
We got out there after lunch and hung out until we had to go in to take showers to get ready for dinner. Friday night we had dinner at the Front Porch Cafe. It was very good!
The head chef came out and got into a heated conversation with the boys about hogs and hunting.
He ended up bringing out hog's head cheese, pork rines and fried pig ears for us to try.
After Front Porch Cafe, we headed to the Cleavlander for rooftop drinks (in my case it was rooftop water, hehe!)
It was a pretty cool place that was entirely open to the outside. It somewhat reminded us of the Beach in NOLA....except with these super cute dancers everywhere...
It was extremely hot and had very loud techno music which really isn't our thing...but we still had fun. We did not stay very long as we were all pretty exhausted... and sweaty!
Saturday morning we headed out to the beach early and had another full day of fun in the sun! This was the view of the ocean from our hotel room.
These beautiful parrots were out at our hotel every day. They were not very friendly but they sure were purdy to look at.
Saturday was the first game of the season and also Trey's first gameday, so of course we had to sport our purple and gold as we cheered on our Tigers against North Texas. We started off the 2012 season with a big W... Geaux Tigers!!
Saturday night we once again rented a limo and had a tour of Miami for 2 hours before going to dinner.
Here is 2/3 of the krewe in the limo.
And the other third :)
The non-preggos had drinks, but we all had a blast!
Our driver was awesome and showed us all the sites including the Miami Heat Arena, the island where all the famous people (including Jay Z and Beyonce and Puff Daddy have houses) and where Versace was shot.
We had so much fun with these girls!!
After making quite a few "one more time" trips around the block, we parked in front of Nikki Beach Club for dinner.
We took advantage of the pretty backdrop (well, besides those fans...) for a few photos before supper.
We even managed to watch the LSU game at dinner.
Like everything in Miami, the food was amazing! Here is a picture of the coconut shrimp appetizer.
Saturday was Craig's birthday. Taryn ordered him a special piece of birthday cake and everyone sang.
Sunday morning Sissy and I went to the spa! She had an 80 minute massage and facial and I had a 50 minute massage, hot oil scalp massage and facial. All the treatments were wonderful and we left feeling SO relaxed. After our massages, we headed out to do a little shopping and sight-seeing before getting ready for the wedding.
Adam came up to our room to get ready so I snapped a few photos of the groom.
A little later, I just so happened to look out of the window and saw Adam and Angela walking up from the beach!
We once again took advantage of the pretty scenery to snap a few photos before the ceremony started.
Mike, Craig, Kev and Jim were Adam's groomsmen.
Trey's Nanny got in some lovin' before the wedding as well. :) I love this picture so much. He is one lucky little boy!
The ceremony was quick and sweet. Ben (Angela's brother in law) provided the music. It was beautiful.
After the wedding there was a cocktail hour followed by a delicious dinner! It was at the happy hour that I became obsessed with the guava and cheese pastries!
The tables were so simple but pretty.
Of course we took over the reception with a little Temptations singing, dancing and you guessed it, second-lining...
Monday morning we had to wake up early to get to the airport for our flight. But before we left, we were sure to pose in front of the A1A sign. "A1A, beach front avenue!!!"
All in all, we had a really fun trip. It was a great mix of people and we all had a really good time. Miami is a very different city. We felt like we were in a foreign country a lot of the time, but still managed to have fun. The Cuban influence on the food was to die for. I am still thinking about all the delicious things we ate. The beach was different but still beautiful. Miami is not a city you can experience on the cheap, so expect to bring lots-o-cash if you plan on going there.
It was a great time spent with amazing people and a very fun wedding! We wish Adam and Angela many years of happiness and all the best!!

Giggling at the A1A sign.
It's funny - Miami is one of those cities I thought I wouldn't really be interested in visiting, but I've been hearing about it from several people now, which might have me changing my mind. :)
Glad yall had fun.
