Trey's First Week

I cannot believe this precious little angel has been in our lives for only a little over a week. Even though he grew in my tummy for 10 months and I wondered who he was every single day, I feel like I have known him forever.

Our little guy already has a nickname, Turtle, which refers to the face he makes when he gets hungry and is rooting around. I sort of hope it doesn't stick because it may be a little embarrassing when he is 18 and we are explaining to his girlfriend where his nickname came from! :)

A few days after being home, he had managed to pee out of multiple diapers a day, so we upgraded him from newborn size to size 1 and we haven't had an issue since (knock on wood).

Here are his most recent stats from his 1 week pediatrician check-up:
* When he was d/c'd from hospital, he weighed 7 lb 8.25 oz and at one week he had re-gained his birth weight (was back up to 8 lbs) and has grown 1/4 inch

* Bilirubin level was low so no jaundice here
* His umbilical cord was just about to fall off, so Dr. Pocsik twisted it off for us
* His little circumcision has also healed well and we can stop using the petroleum jelly which combined with no more umbilical cord makes changing diapers a LOT easier.
* He is consistently eating for 30-45 minutes at each feeding every 3 hours. He has one stretch during the day where he usually gets hungry after 2-2.5 hours, but other than that, it has been every 3. At night he goes 3-4 hours between feedings.

What has happened in week 1:
* My milk came in on day 3 and the little guy has been eating like a champ. He has got a really good latch and mama's got plenty of supply for him. After having to pump a little between feedings I did a little recon earlier and we have 21.5 ounces of frozen milk in our freezer!!! I am trying not to pump between feedings so I can get regulated, but sometimes I just cannot wait until Trey is hungry again. Hubby jokes that we may need a deep freeze just for milk.

* He loves his lamb bouncer seat (THANK YOU Maugie and Randy!!) He hangs out in it for much of the day. I try not to hold him all day just because I feel like he needs to stretch out and have a break from everyone holding him all the time. Of course I get in lots of snuggles and loving throughout the day though!

* He has killer poopies at times and actually had a projectile episode all over his Mama one night- thank goodness he's so cute!

* He is just as laid back now as he was in utero, it's sort of funny. He is only fussy when he is hungry or needs a diaper. Other than that, he likes to hang out and look around or sleep :)

* He was born with more hair than Hubby currently has and way more hair than I had at birth all the way until 2 years old! I am anxious to see if he will keep it or if it will all fall out.

* We've gotten a few smiles-purely gas related I'm sure, but it's still cute as heck

* First bath was a success! He managed to pee all over his Daddy, but he really liked his bath. (It was only a sponge bath since his umbilical cord hadn't fallen off yet).

* He must have really amazing dreams because he makes the BEST faces in his sleep!

* I have caught him sucking his thumb twice. He didn't do it for very long but I managed to snap a picture. His "Peet" was pretty excited because this is exactly how she sucked her thumb as a child.

* He has FaceTimed more than I even have in my life :)

* He watched his first episode of Duck Dynasty at the hospital

* He LOVES hanging out with the other guys of the house...

Here's to another great week! I plan on posting Trey updates monthly, so please check back for those.
We are SO in love with our little man and excited to see how we progress over the weeks!
