I realized (after the fact) that putting text on photos was pretty hard to read, so I changed up our monthly post format, borrowing some ideas from my friend Emily and adding some things I thought would be fun to document each month!
2 month wellness checkup: Trey had a great checkup. He received his 2 month shots and did very well with them with only a slight temperature once we got home. Then he slept most of the next day, but acted otherwise normal. We were prescribed hydro-cortisone cream for Trey's rash he has on his neck. Dr. P said its nothing to worry about and that it's likely from milk getting caught in his "healthy chunky baby neck rolls". :) He also has a hemangioma on his little booty that she wants a pedi dermatologist to check out just to be certain even though she thinks it is just superficial. We are going to try and schedule that appointment for before I go back to work.
Growth Stats:
12 lbs 8 oz and 23 1/4 inches long
This puts him in the 75% for both weight and length. He was 10 lbs 6 oz and 22 inches long at his 1 month checkup.

Hair/Eyes: Hair still dark brown and seems to be growing from back to front! He still has just a little hair in the front and that big Major cowlick that his Mommy and Great Aunt Peet have!
I think he is starting to lose some of his baby mullet so we may not have a "party in the back" for too much longer. The wee one doesn't seem to mind although Mommy has been finding hair on the boppy pillow after nursing him and in his bed.
His eyes are still dark blue but continue to get lighter (much to my delight as his Daddy has gorgeous crystal clear blue eyes!) in the sunlight I can see little variegated specks of blue- gorgeous!! His eye lashes have also grown so much. They are SUPER long and sometimes get bent down because they are so long. I believe we are definitely going to have a little lady killer on our hands!

Nicknames: Little Man/Big Man, Tee Bebe, Buddy, Turtle, Big Guy, T Bud, Peanut, Ta Toot, TaTootski
What He's Wearing: 3 months and even a few 3-6 month pieces depending on the brand.
Sleep Habits: Still a good sleeper so very thankful for that!! He wakes up once a night (depending on what time he goes to bed) to nurse then goes right back to sleep. I feel weird even talking about this as I don't want to jinx us. The only time he woke up multiple times a night was the first few days after we brought him home. It's safe to say Mommy and Daddy are spoiled!
He has slept through the night (7-8 hours straight) a handful of nights but usually sleeps a 5-6 hour stretch every night. He even slept well when we were away from home for a week and when we spent the weekend in a noisy hotel room in NOLA. Thank goodness he is such a sound sleeper!
He also naps well during the day. After eating, he is staying awake for longer periods of time, but then he starts to let out big yawns so I know he's ready for a nap! He usually naps for 30 minutes-2 hours between feedings depending on the time of day.
Around 6 weeks, he was really fussy a couple nights in a row and just did not seem content sleeping in his napper. So, at 1 am one morning, I took it apart and put him down in the bassinet of the pack n play and he has slept there ever since! I guess everyone is right that raising a baby is really trial and error!

Daily Routine: We start our day between 6-8 am depending on what time he wakes up to eat at night. Hoping to narrow this time down and get on more of a schedule before I have to go back to work, which by the way is February 19th and I am DREADING it already! :( :( :(
From there it's a rotation of eat, play, sleep, rinse and repeat! Around 5-6 weeks we started a bedtime routine that has worked well for us thus far- I will post about that soon, promise. Trey seems indifferent about a bath at this point and usually keeps his hands in tight fists with a serious look on his face, BUT it does work sometimes to relax him and is great to lead into our nighttime routine so hopefully he will learn to enjoy it a little more. We don't bathe him every night, as we don't want to dry out his little skin (especially since it's been cold here), but we do at least wipe him down and use lotion so he knows it's time for bed. Then we get him into his PJ's which also includes a "PJ" song. Next time you see me ask me about it and I'll give you a little example ;)
At 6 weeks, we started naps in his crib during the day. The first couple of days he kept waking himself up as he was used to sleeping in the newborn napper in the pack and play. He does NOT like being swaddled, not even with his arms free (we tried that after a recommendation from Emily). Oh well, it was worth a try... I do think he is getting used to napping in a much more open space, so we will continue at least one nap a day in his crib.
For his other daily naps, he takes them in the swing or bouncer, or sleeping on his Mommy ;)
Personality: We have a serious little dude for sure. He always looks like he is contemplating something really important or solving the world's problems. I love when he studies my face, it's like he's talking to me with those big dark blue eyes *melt*
Motor Milestones: He enjoys tummy time on my chest and pushes up with his arms and feet and tries to "climb" up my chest. We are working on enjoying tummy time on the floor...so far he's not a huge fan... Dr. P was impressed with his head control at his 2 month appointment though, so that made Mommy feel good!
He enjoys hanging out under his play mat and looking at all the toys hanging. He has started to bat at them and I think it surprised him when the toys moved! He does this all while being supervised by his big brother of course!
And he always lets us know when he has had enough!
He also loves looking at himself in mirrors- thank you to Katherine for that recommendation! He has started to "talk" to the baby in the mirror, which is so adorable! He also follows lights and looks at shadows and is just becoming more and more alert by the day!
Trey has also started really vocalizing over the past few weeks.
- "Hiss": (I realize this makes our child sound like a snake but I cant think of a better word to describe this particular sound!)
- "Gurgle": Usually happens when he is really full and just hanging out.
- "Talking": He has a particular little happy noise that he makes when he is "talking" to his toys under his play mat or to himself in his mirror.
- "Scream": He also has a little "scream" that he lets out when he wants us to pay attention to him or when we are talking to him. It's too cute! He has also "screamed" at Lucky on occasion.
- "Eh Eh Eh": This is a sad sounding little noise and is usually accompanied with rooting around or trying to eat his hand. That's when we know little man is definitely hungry!
Trey has also started to open and close his hands and "flick" with his fingers when he touches something he likes. He also likes to stretch his arms and legs way out. When he does this, he looks SO super long! He can now mimic faces and stick out his tongue. It's one of my favorite things to do. Here are his great Aunts Peet and Janie trying to get him to stick out his tongue :)
Anything New: Smiles.

Big ones! Trey smiled for the first time at 6 weeks. I'm talking a real smile not just gas or all those little angel smiles he does in his sleep. I guess all those crazy faces and noises I've been making in his face finally paid off when I got that big grin. And yes, I cried. Then I text my mom and she cried too- two peas in a pod! At 8 weeks, I was finally able to capture these elusive smiles on camera!!

He also has a little squinty eye just like his Mommy has and his Grandpa O'Meara had! You can't always see it, but you can in this picture, it's his left. His eyes are the same size, but he squints one more than the other sometimes. Sha baby. I love seeing all the little traits that come from each side of the family; although so far his few Jacobs' traits consist of nose (his PawPaw Jacobs and Aunt Jamie), eye color (hopefully!!) and head shape, chin and long fingers and toes (his Daddy).
Trey had some baby acne on his face and chest for a couple of weeks but that has gone away now. He also has the little rash I wrote about before, but after one day of the Eucerin/Hydrocortisone treatment it looks much better!
His skin color has also gotten much lighter from when he was born until now. He was borderline jaundice when he was born, so that's probably why he was darker too.
Trey started producing tears at 8 weeks but has only cried hard enough for us to see them twice. The first time he had tears made me so sad. I even cried with him once in the car when we were almost home and there was nothing I could do to soothe him. We both had tears. I am such a sissy baby when my baby cries!
The last new thing from this month was rolling onto his side. Trey has started to roll on his side when he is trying to get comfy or go to sleep. So now, we have to be very careful with where we lay him and what is around when we lay him down for sure!
Things we did this month:
We brought in the New Year with our friends at our house. Jim cooked a big pastalaya and we had a really good time, despite a disappointing LSU loss.
We traveled home for the first time and Trey got to meet lots and lots of people who love him very much!
While at home, we watched Daddy, Nanny, Parrain and Papa Randy run the Baton Rouge half marathon and traveled to NOLA for the first weekend of Mardi Gras and for the Krewe of Pontchartrain parade! We also left him for the first time to ride in the parade. His Great-Aunts Sharon and Ellen babysat him and had a blast. While we really missed him, we did not worry about him one bit as we knew he was in such good hands!

We had more visitors from back home:

I am so happy to say that we finally got Trey together with Jolie! Emily and I got to share our pregnancies together, and bounce ideas and questions off each other during those 10 months.
Now, we talk on almost a daily basis (as we are both still on maternity leave) about what our babies are doing. I am so thankful to have her as a friend and so happy to share these precious pics of our little ones. Jolie is quite the petite little thing. Trey looks so big next to her. Crazy to think they were born only 3 days apart!

Mommy Update: As of Trey's 2 month birthday, I am 3 lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight. When I got pregnant, I was about 5 lbs over my usual weight, so I would like to lose those few more lbs as well. I started working out again around 5 weeks....just some walking with the stroller and jogging here and there. Even though I have lost the majority of my baby weight, it is just distributed a little differently now. I still cannot fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans as my hips definitely widened during my pregnancy. I had to buy some new jeans (up one size) :( but hopefully won't have to be in them for too long. The last couple of weeks my hips, tailbone and pelvic bones have been really sore, so hopefully they are working themselves back into place! I plan on continuing to walk and jog and add in some light weights and exercises that I can do at home. Once I return to work, I plan on taking Trey with me to the gym so I can do better workouts.
I am amazed at how much Trey has changed and grown in just 2 short months! I really look forward to watching him grow more although it makes me just a tiny bit sad at how fast they grow!

This is so sweet, Liz! Great job rounding it all up and it was so fun to get caught up on everything.
When I was reading about you crying all the time I thought about the time you went with me when I tried on wedding dresses and you started crying at the store! Hahah! You've always been a crier! :P
I so want to meet your little man. He is just so stinkin' handsome.
I love your first smile story :) I did the very same thing--called my mom crying like a baby...lol! One of my best infant memories.
Trey is so adorable. I just can't get over it. Keep enjoying him for the rest of your time off. I will be praying for your transition back to work. It's tough, but you can do it :)
Lauren
