16 months

Hair/Eyes:
His hair is still growing from back to front again and getting thicker. His eyes are still hazel/green.

Nicknames:
Bubba, Bud, Baby Trey

What He's Wearing:
Still 18 or 18-24 month clothes, size 6 shoes and size 5 diapers. Thinking we are going to have to move up a size in diapers soon.

He is still loving his cowboy boots and even got a new hand me down pair from Jolie's son, Colton. He also just got a new pair of "Choo Choo" shoes that he insists on wearing most days.

Sleep Habits:

Trey has still been sleeping really well. He has moved his bedtime up a bit to between 7:30 and 8 pm and usually sleeps a little longer (11-12+) hours every night.

We have continued to lay him down awake for naps and for nighttime and he puts himself to sleep (as long as he has his pillow!)

He has continued with one long morning (2+ hours!) nap. Most days he only naps once.

The time change sort of messed him up at bit for the first couple weeks. He was struggling to stay awake until 7 pm but he has now worked it out and is back to normal.

He was sick one week so he took some extra little cat naps but that was out of the norm for him.

Sometimes it takes everything in me not to go into his room and snatch him up and snuggle him when he is asleep. LOVE those sweet snuggles.

What He Eats:

Trey weaned himself off the bottle during his 15 month and by his 16 month birthday he is bottle-free! Yay! For all you mamas out there you know just how glorious this is!!!

He drinks milk in the morning and before bed from a sippy with sometimes another cup of milk during the day.

He continues with three meals a day with snacks between, although his eating habits changed quite a bit this month. He is super picky all of a sudden and is pretty much on a meat strike (except chicken nuggets) and still won't eat anything with cheese on it- weird, right?.

We have started making smoothies and he LOVES them- especially green ones with all sorts of yummy fruits and vegetables in them!

He now eats off a bowl or plate without throwing it on the ground (usually)...epic win.

Favorite foods still include mandarin oranges, pancakes, blueberries, blackberries, yogurt, cheerios, mixed vegetables, grapes, chicken nuggets and ritz crackers.

Daily Routine:

Nothing has really changed here. Our little schedule has been pretty consistent and has worked out well for us.
Our evening routine still consists of a bath, teeth brushing, pj's and then sippy of milk before bed.

One thing he does daily is helps mama make the coffee on the days I am off and helps Daddy make the coffee on weekends. He likes to smell the "fee" and loves closing the lid and pushing the button to start the brew!

Personality:

Trey is becoming more and more strong willed. He shows that "Major temper" pretty often!

This month he became very opinionated about everything. He can vocalize when he does or does not want something. He will refuse to eat if it's not what he wants. He cannot say many foods yet so it has been very frustrating trying to figure out what he is trying to tell us...we are definitely working on it though! Sometimes I just pick him up and tell him to show me what he wants- this seems to work well for now.

He has also been hitting his head on things when he gets frustrated. We talked to Dr. Pocsik about this but she assured us it's normal toddler behavior. She told us to just let him work it out in a safe place and he should grow out of it soon.

He also has been hitting on occasion (most of the time he is playing, but we still want to nip this in the bud). He also also bit me once when he was frustrated!! Hope he doesn't do that again...

Even with his strong personality he is still a silly little guy and more often than not he is happy, smiling and laughing.

He loves to play with his couzans and hide and seek is one of his favorite games.

Milestones:

Trey only has one speed- fast. He runs everywhere he goes.
He is still working on learning to use a spoon but is pretty good and consistent with using a fork.

He has been walking backwards and practicing for the Easter bunny by hopping like a bunny- so cute!
He still has 12 teeth but his bottom gums are swollen so I think he may be getting more soon.

He now helps us to clean up or put things up. He LOVES putting things away into boxes or containers. He also loves throwing things in the trash can and getting in the fridge to tell us what snacks he wants.

He is still doing well with independent play time. Favorite toys include: his play kitchen, blocks, anything he can load and unload, anything Mickey Mouse and choo-choo trains.

He still enjoys stealing our phones and taking "selfies" which seriously cracks me up.

What Trey says:

He is still repeating much of what he hears.

He knows that "two" comes after "one" and likes to help us count.

His little vocabulary is exploding all of a sudden! New words this month include "nana" for banana, "fee" for coffee, "cheers" and "sit". He is also starting to string together two-word phrases: "open it" and "sit down".

Anything New:

Trey can now climb onto the big chair without any assistance. He can almost get on the couch. He was climbing on his chair the other day and flipped over the arm and hit his head on the table :( Thank goodness the corners are rounded but he got two small cuts on his head and has a really nasty bruise on his ear.

He has also put his foot up on the railing of his crib on occasion. I am NOT excited about the possibility of him being able to crawl out of his crib but thankfully I think we still have a while to go before that happens.

He has learned to do "cheers" with drinks and loves to do it over and over again!

He LOVES waiting at the window or door for Daddy to get home in the evenings!

He has still  been practicing sitting at his big boy table and the big table for meals. He is starting to prefer his table over highchair so I'm thinking we will be able to put it up soon.

At the park, he can climb all the way up on the playground equipment by himself and LOVES to do so. He will climb all the way to the top then slide down over and over again.

He also now very much into books. He used to not sit still long enough to read but now he loves to crawl up into our laps and read books with us!

The biggest "new" thing this month was that he started showing interest in the potty!

I do not think we are ready for potty training yet but he has wanted to sit on the potty lately, flush and wash his hands :)

He has even tee-tee'd on the potty once!

What we did this month:

We've been having SO much fun playing on my days off. We have lots of little dates together. I plan on posting about all the fun things we do very soon!

We celebrated Mardi Gras with a little celebration in Kemah.

We went to mass on Ash Wednesday and got our ashes.

We went to Jumping World and the kids had SO much fun!

We had a good visit with Uncle Adam and DD. They brought the kids Easter sussies which they had SO much fun playing with!

He came visit Mama at work one day and had fun playing on my computer.

We got our library cards and are looking forward to Toddler Story Time!

We went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Trey had an absolute blast!

We had a fun impromptu play date at the park after work one day.

I cannot believe my baby is so close to being 1.5 years old! Sweet boy... Loving every single second with this little ball of energy.
