See what I did there with the title? Hehe...
We had just the BEST Easter weekend!!!
Since Jim and I always have to work the Monday after Easter, we usually stay here and my family comes to us. This year, Jim and I both ended up being off on Good Friday so we had a three-day weekend which was really awesome!
GG headed here Thursday afternoon and picked up Trey from Sara's house. He was so excited to see her he ran to her and didn't even want to hug Sara goodbye :)
Peet stayed home as she was sick and she was really missed and we know she really missed us too :( Trey facetimed her a few times and would even hug and kiss the ipad when he was talking to her. It was the cutest thing!
Friday, Jim and I were both off, so we enjoyed a lazy morning with breakfast and then we all headed to the Fitness Center for the annual Easter egg hunt. Of course our breakfast consisted of a lot of "cheers" with Trey.
The Easter bunny made his rounds while the kiddos waited in line and visited with everyone. Trey was really excited about the bunny...from a distance.
When it was time for the hunt, Trey acted like an old pro and ran to the eggs and started loading them up in his basket. There were plenty eggs and he easily got 15 eggs (the maximum). He also had a lot of fun doing it.
It is nearly impossible to get a picture of the three kiddos these days as they all have much more important things to do than to pose for pictures for us.
We had so much fun helping Trey hunt the eggs and just watching our little guy do his thing...
After the egg hunt and snacks, we headed over to meet the bunny. Trey was not super excited about him close up. He cried the second we put him on the bunny's lap.
However, he was pretty happy when I got in the picture with the bunny.
Trey even high-fived him before we walked away.
There were also real bunnies to take pictures with which Trey LOVED! He was just too tickled with the little bunny on his lap.
Dellie and Quinn loved them too.
Quinn had an epic meltdown when it was time to leave- poor buddy!
After a nap, Trey woke up and he and GG opened all his eggs from his hunt. He got some really cute prizes!
Good Friday night, the Tolers came over and Jim grilled fish which was amazing. We had a nice night visiting and the kids had fun playing (as usual!)
We also exchanged Easter gifts for the kiddos and let GG open her birthday gifts (a few weeks early) to celebrate her in person while she was here!
Saturday, we laid low. GG and I did some gardening and then went and got a pedi. Jim and Kev even snuck in a round of golf.
After Daddy got home from playing golf, we dyed Easter eggs. I think we probably enjoyed it more than Trey did, but he had a pretty good time :)
His favorite parts were putting the eggs into the cups and also cracking an egg and pressing his fingers into it.
We had a little dying intermission so Trey could get a bath...
When he was all clean we took some pictures of him with his finished products!
Saturday night we left some bunny food for the EB before bed time. Trey had to taste-test the carrots and lettuce before leaving them for the bunny.
GG, Jim and I all gave up sweets for lent, so we stayed up until midnight so we could eat some :) BEST idea ever...at the time at least...
Sunday morning, Trey was SUPER pumped to see his Easter basket (and goodies from GG and Peet) when he woke up!
He jumped out of his daddy's arms and ran down the hallway when he saw his basket!
He must have been quite a good boy as he got lots of fun things in his basket, and although he didn't get too much sweet stuff he did get a few treats! He got a Louisiana "home" t-shirt, a pair of rain boots, two movies, a stuffed animal, mason jar plastic cup, colored bath drops and a couple other small things.
He also got a choo choo train that blows bubbles (and lots of other goodies) from his GG and Peet. He was SO excited!
One of the first things he pulled out of his basket were his dum dums and unwrapped them all and proceeded to lick them...
...then he pulled everything out and pretty much detroyed his basket, hehe!
He insisted on wearing his rain boots all morning until we left for church. There aren't many things cuter than little boys in rain boots...
Trey also enjoyed feeding Lucky his treats from the EB!
Since Trey was up early, we got ready and headed to 8:30 mass. It was a packed mass and we sat in the cry room, but Trey did really good.
He was an angel the entire time and was really really good.
After mass, we picked up donuts for breakfast since we could all eat sweets again! They were such a treat and were SO good.
We took a couple pictures before we stuffed our faces with deliciousness!
We laid low the rest of the day and got in a little nap (sugar crash after our midnight feast).
After our naps we started cooking Easter dinner. I prepared the ham, Jim channeled his inner Uncle Johnny and fried the turkey and everyone else brought sides.
We had our friends the DeRouen's, our besties the Tolers and Robert and Renee over for dinner.
We absolutely love our big adopted Texas family and it's even more special when our real family can be with us for holidays as well.
The kids had an egg hunt which of course they loved...
...and the adults had a good time laughing and visiting.
We ended the night by singing Happy Birthday to GG and enjoying cupcakes!
Some of us (TREY!) enjoyed more than one cupcake :)
Poor Trey was exhausted by the time everyone left and was asleep by 8pm so we could finish cleaning up.
All in all it was a fantastic Easter weekend and we had THE MOST gorgeous weather!
Looking forward to a few weeks when we head to New Orleans for a little getaway for Laney and Ricardo's wedding!
