Sweet Summertime

With summer coming to a close next week when school starts, I felt it was only appropriate to post all the fun we had this summer!

This summer was a little different than all the others since I was home on maternity leave, we got to have tons of fun during the week. Although, we didn't get to do too many outdoor activities (with little brother being so small) we had lots of fun!

I feel like this photo pretty much sums up how most of our mornings looked- with Trey joining me in our bed to get a little extra sleep before starting our day :)

Jim also went into work a little later most mornings so we got some extra hang out time with him. Trey really liked helping him get ready for work (and wearing socks just like daddy!).

Before Wesley was born, we tried to spend some afternoons at our neighborhood pool since I knew we wouldn't be able to do that once the baby was here. Trey got really good at swimming (with his floatie) this summer. He can do laps back and forth across the pool length-wise before getting tired..what a little fish!

We also got a new blow-up pool and spent lots of afternoons hanging out in the backyard in our pool!

Trey really got into coloring and drawing this summer and we did quite a bit of arts and crafts!! We also did quite a bit of reading.

Trey and I also tried to go on little "dates" before the baby was born. Fro Yo was one of our favorite treats.

Trey spent lots of time this summer loving on my stomach and "showing" the baby all his toys.

We also spent lots of time playing in our backyard on his swing set that he got last year.

After Wesley was born, we went on little family outings but tried to limit Wesley's exposure to too many germs in public. I will say we were definitely more laid back about these type things this time around than with Trey...

Quinn played T-ball for the first time this summer and had a blast. Trey didn't quite understand why he couldn't play with Quinn but they were sweet enough to let him sit in the dugout with his buddy. Trey will be old enough this Spring for us to sign him up to play!

Like I mentioned before, we did LOTS of snuggling this summer whether it was in the mornings, night time or for naps.

Then some days Trey played so hard he just crashed in random places!

Some days were nice enough and not too hot that we took Wesley out to get a little fresh air. I love the way he sleeps!

Wesley spent his first 4th of July holiday at the Derouen's house as they had us all over there.

Trey swam and Wesley mostly hung out in his carrier.

Trey and Quinn had a blast swimming, as usual.

Hayes was really intrigued about what Wesley was doing and kept toddling over to check him out.

Love these two sweet guys :)

There were cupcakes involved, which is Trey's love language.

We watched the pretty sun set while the kiddos were pretty much tearing up their underwear to start the fireworks!

We watched the fireworks for a while then headed home as we were exhausted and the firework smoke was really blowing back on us a lot... I was worried about Wes breathing in all that smoke.

We also had a great week with GG hanging out with us.

We had a little impromptu lunch date at Panera to celebrate baby Hayes birthday since his party was going to be in Louisiana. I love these sweet little friends!

A few times my boys and I were able to get in some hang out time in the backyard without it being too hot for brother, but those days were few and far between as this summer was a killer one with temperatures many weeks being above 100!

The last weekend in July we were invited to the Seabrook Sailing Club by the Bonvillians to watch the fireworks. We had a great time playing and hanging out while waiting for the fireworks to start.

Rara brought glow necklaces for all the kids so we could keep track of them all once it got dark...this was an AWESOME idea since it was pitch black out there once the sun went down.

The Kemah Boardwalk looked so nice all lit up!

I Love these girls and we had a great time hanging out and watching the fireworks.

We also had some sweet visitors who came to see us including Mikey and Elva and a quick visit from Aunt Shea and Uncle John O!

We enjoyed some sweet treats including Snoballs and fro yo on some super hot days. Check out those red cheeks and sweet smiles!

My little guys and I learned to navigate running errands and shopping together and I got pretty good at zone defense!!

One day we brought lunch to Uncle Robert and Daddy at work and Trey had fun running a muck in their construction trailer and helping Uncle Robert work.

We had an impromptu slumber party with the Tolers when our air conditioner broke during the hottest week in 2 years :( :( Thank God for good friends!

This summer, we also added a new family member to our house. Chica (our goldfish) outgrew her bowl so we upgraded her to a tank. While we were getting a tank we decided to get another gold fish as well so Trey picked out Finn (a little black goldfish) to keep her company. We are all pretty smitten with him and I think they both love their new home!

The last fun we had was a trip to the Children's Museum with one of my friends I met in college but hadn't seen since 2005! It was great to catch up with her and meet her sweet daughter, Collins. Collins and Trey are only a couple days apart and had a lot of fun playing. She and her husband, Jason, (who is also one of Jim's fraternity brothers) are expecting another little bundle of joy this year as well!

This summer was pretty much the best summer ever and I am sad that it is already coming to an end! I am so grateful I had this sweet time with my boys while they are still so little and will always smile looking back on these days. No, they weren't always super fun or easy but they were always, always worth it!

Trey starts his new school year next week and will be entering the Lower Rotation (3 year old) class so stay tuned for more on that!!
