Trey 2.5 Years

Growth Stats:
34 ish lb and 38 inches tall

Hair/Eyes:
Trey finally has hair, although it is still not grown in all the way on the sides. He has had a handful of haircuts but we can usually go a few months between each cut. His eyes are green "like GG" he says.

Nicknames:
Bubba, Bud, still known by most of our friends and their kiddos as Baby Trey

What He's Wearing:
3T clothes and Size 8 shoes

Sleep Habits:
Trey is a great sleeper and is fully transitioned to his big boy twin bed in his big boy room.

He has some nights where he comes and tries to get in bed with us in the middle of the night but it is only maybe once a week at the most. We bought him a "time to wake" clock and he is allowed to get out of bed when it turns green. It has worked pretty well thus far. Sometimes we just let him get in bed with us then once he's asleep we will put him back in his bed.

He is still a great napper (as I knock on wood). He takes 2 hour naps at school and 2-3 hour naps at home. I am SO thankful for those naps as these days at the end of this pregnancy I can barely keep my eyes open until 1 pm. I usually take advantage of his nap time by napping myself, lol!

Trey sometimes talks in his sleep and it is usually about food, haha!

What He Eats:

Trey still loves his "drink" (carnation instant breakfast and milk) and drinks this daily.

He is still quite a picky eater but his favorite foods include: ALL sweets and snack foods, lentils, edamame, apple sauce, muffins, yogurt and chicken nuggets.

His favorite treats are cake pops and donuts, a Registered Dietitian's dream.. :) lol!

He is most definitely a snacker like his mama :)

Daily Routine:
Nothing has really changed here. Our little schedule has been pretty consistent and has worked out well for us.
Our evening routine still consists of a bath, teeth brushing (when he wants to cooperate and we actually remember- we usually brush teeth at random times throughout the day haha!), pj's and then sippy of milk before bed.

He has also recently started to love taking showers with Jim so that has worked out well too.

Personality:

Terrible twos are here in full-force! he will go from being completely happy and having the time of his life to throwing himself on the ground in protest and crying until he makes himself throw up- fun stuff. I do feel like the closer he gets to 3 though he understands more and we can reason with him whereas before that did not happen.

He is EXTREMELY particular; wants to dictate everything from what he eats, wears to what color cup he drinks out of. He most definitely gets that particular-ness from his daddy :) I love making him make a decision because he gets so serious about it "ummmmm, uhhhhh maybe...".

He loves to help whether it be doing chores like cleaning or laundry or helping Daddy with projects and building things.

He is the best snuggler! He loves to snuggle and cuddle.

He snuggles with one of us every night before bed when he decides he is tired enough and we tuck him into bed.

He loves to giggle and be tickled and his laugh is contagious.

He has the SWEETEST smile.

He is going through a phase where he does not want his picture taken so that is becoming a bit of a challenge for sure, but we are trying to be sneaky :)

Disciplining him has been a challenge but lately taking toys or his pillow and putting them in time out has worked well for us.

Milestones:

Biggest milestone is that by 28 months he was completely potty trained!!!

We are SO proud of him. He still wears pull-ups for naps and night time but is staying dry more and more for naps so maybe we will be able to phase out the nap pull-ups sooner than later.

He has all his teeth including the dreaded 2-3 year old molars.

He can count to 20, sing his ABC's and a ton of other songs, he knows all his colors, many shapes and a few numbers.  His favorite song on the radio right now is "Uptown Funk".

He understands humor and tells us little jokes all the time. He is hilarious and loves to make us laugh!

He has a crazy wild imagination and loves to make up stories.

What Trey says:
Oh geez, way too much to put here. He speaks in full sentences and paragraphs and never stops talking!

He has excellent manners and says please and thank you and bless you when someone sneezes. We are working on "sir" and "ma'am" and he is doing really well with them. We still have to remind him at times but he is catching on pretty well.

My favorite thing he currently says is "I want (insert whatever we are eating, drinking, doing here) too!"

What Trey Loves:

Animals still; however we lost our beloved Lucky Dog in April so it has been quite an adjustment for all of us. A few months before Lucky passed away he started spending a lot more time with Trey; even slept in his bed with him quite a few times. Thinking of those moments just melt my heart.

He still loves to go see the cows in our neighborhood and he also still loves feeding our fish, Chica. We got her back in November and she is doing amazing and growing really big!

All things little boy: frogs, bugs, lizards, dirt, running, balls, trucks, cars, trains, tools and watching sports with daddy. He also loves coloring and painting.

Playing outside; especially at the playground, his swing or his new swing set.

Blankets and his lovie which is his pillow. He always has to have a blanket to snuggle (just like his Mama!) and he sleeps every night and nap with his pillow. He also loves to sleep with his Kermie from Aunt Jamie and Aunt Jutta and his donkey from the Dobsons.

He also loves shopping, running errands with mama and eating at restaurants. He usually asks what were going to be doing every day and is upset if were not going shopping.

He really really loves being just in his undies. Sometimes we have to force him to at least put on underwear because come on, that's just gross. Is this a toddler thing or a little boy thing?

He hardly EVER has on pants when he is at home and sometimes we have to fight with him to get dressed in the mornings.

Last but not least he loves babies and loving on them and playing with his cousins.

He and Quinn are BFFs and even though they fight like brothers they love each other.

Anything New:

He still LOVES school and adores his lead teacher, Mrs Doria and his teacher Miss Abigail. His two BFF's at school are Cohen and Abby. He only has two weeks of school left until summer and it is a little bittersweet for me. I am so excited to have him home with me for much of the summer (since I will be on maternity leave). He will be moving up classes to the lower rotation in the fall so he will have a new set of teachers.

He has been practicing a lot for the new baby to get here by using the baby doll from the Hoffmans. He calls it "baby sissy" although he insists the new baby is going to be a boy.

We took him to a sibling class at the hospital which ended by us having to leave early as Trey had a major meltdown since he only got about an hour nap. But, before we had to leave, he got to practice holding, putting and diaper on and swaddling a baby doll and it was precious. He picked out this baby doll all on his own- just goes to show you that kids are color blind :)

He can also now pick out foods that have peanuts and will tell us at the store "dis has peanuts mama. It make me sick". That is so good and so sad all at the same time, but I am glad he is starting to recognize things.

He has mastered the "I love you" sign and does it any time he is telling us bye, its adorable.

We have been spending lots and lots of time outside since the weather has gotten warm. He is getting more brave in the pool but it still pretty timid (which is a-ok with me for now!) I think I will enroll him in swimming lessons next spring or summer but that was too much this summer with a new baby coming.

He is such a love bug and we are so excited to see him in his new roll as BIG BROTHER! His new baby brother or sister will be here on June 15 (if not sooner!) and we cannot wait!
